Elvis Francois, M.D. – Spine Surgeon - Big Apple Spine & Orthopedics

Dr. Elvis Francois is a fellowship-trained orthopedic spine surgeon specializing in the diagnosis and surgical management of complex spinal disorders. He completed his spine surgery fellowship at Harvard Medical School’s Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, following his orthopedic surgery residency at the Mayo Clinic. He holds a medical degree from Meharry Medical College and a Bachelor of Arts in Neuroscience and Biology from Oberlin College.

Dr. Francois brings years of clinical expertise to Big Apple Spine, having previously served as a spine surgeon at Resurgens Orthopaedics and Tulsa Bone and Joint. His clinical interests include minimally invasive spine surgery, cervical and lumbar disc disease, spinal deformity, and motion-preserving techniques.

In addition to his surgical practice, Dr. Francois has contributed to numerous peer-reviewed publications and book chapters in the field of spine surgery and musculoskeletal research. He has presented at national orthopedic meetings and remains active in academic research and mentorship, particularly focused on increasing diversity in medicine.

Outside of medicine, Dr. Francois is also an accomplished musician and the founder of Music is Medicine, an initiative that uses music to uplift patients in hospital settings. During the COVID-19 pandemic, his viral performance of “Imagine” reached millions and served as a message of hope and resilience. He has since continued to merge his passions for healing and the arts, most recently releasing his original single “Difference” in 2024.
